At FiatChrysler’s 284,000-square-foot Casting Plant at Etobicoke, Ontario, staff have recently worked to improve the efficiency of the furnace and reduce its environmental impact. The plant employs more than 500 people, making aluminuim die castings and pistons for a variety of FCA vehicles.

The benefits from the changes made to the furnace include:

• Increased furnace efficiency by 20%
• Reduced annual CO2 emissions by about 12,000 metric tons
• Saved $150,000  (CDN) annually in energy costs
